MORNINGS WITH WAYNE!
A little over 15 years ago we started a tradition. Every single morning our neighbor Wayne has come over to the house and hand fed Milo. About 6 years ago Merry came along and joined the tradition. The only days Wayne has missed in over 15 years was the week that he was in the Hospital having heart surgery. The puppies wait at the door every morning and he shows at 10:00 (you can set your watch by it) every single morning, sits down on the floor to be on their level and hand feeds them. Like Milo once said: "Is this a great country or what?!!"

Puppies waiting
for their friend Wayne.
Sometimes the puppies go outside and meet Wayne on the sidewalk. Milo waiting for Wayne. Wayne feeds the puppies.
Wayne feeds the puppies and after breakfast a little tummy rub or back-scratching on the sofa.
MILO & MERRY

PLAYING & RELAXING

Milo and Merry were always up to something. A few years ago on Dru's (Dan's son) birthday
they got together and made this birthday card for him.

BEST FRIENDS

FOREVER

MILO ON VACATIONS

IN THE RV

Milo sneaks up on Daddy   .....
THEN JUMPS UP ON HIS LAP!!!
Milo's favorite spot in the RV
was on the dash in his relax bed.
Milo & Merry sharing the RV
dash to view the vacation.
Milo was a happy puppy
and loved to run on the beach.
Mommy & Milo on the cool grass relaxing after a run on the beach. And at the end of the day .....
you guessed it ..... DOG TIRED!

When Milo was young he was quite a trickster.
Sometimes he's go potty in the house and get in trouble.

So once he had gone potty in the spare room and tried to trick us by putting a
Tootsie Roll wrapper (that he'd found in the garbage) next to the evidence.

MILO W/ MOMMY & DADDY

Milo's favorite relax spot was
always next to Mommy.
Walkin' the snow
with their winter jackets.
Taking a nap with Daddy. Always a happy time
when walking with Mommy.
NOTE: I got an email from a friend who viewed this photo page and I think he said something like "hey, why don't you go on any walks with Barb & the Puppies?"  .....  hmmmmmm ... I wonder who he thought was taking all the photos?

THIS WEBSITE IS ALSO DEDICATED TO OUR PERFECT NEIGHBOR AND FRIEND
WAYNE PERSLIN

Wayne was there for Milo almost every day of his life. Wayne hand-fed Milo every morning, would make afternoon visits whenever Milo was sick. And whenever Barb & I had to leave the house for more than a few hours, Wayne always insisted on dropping by to sit with Milo for a while, let him outside and just to make sure Milo had a good back run and some company.
For the past 15+ years Milo has gone to the front door of our home and looked for his best friend Wayne to come by and feed and pet him. Wayne was the best friend a dog could ever have. A few years ago Wayne was featured in a full page story in the Columbian Newspaper. The story featured a story and photos of Wayne and his dog (Nipper) and was done because the dog was 22 years old. I truly believe in my heart that the love Wayne gave our dog was over so many years was a huge part of the fact that Milo lived such a long and happy life. Thank you Wayne. From both me and Barb, Merry and especially from Milo.

MILO'S LAST DAY
MILO WAS NEARLY 18 YEARS OLD WHEN HE DIED.
HE HAD LIVED THE PAST 2 YEARS OF HIS LIFE NEARLY COMPLETELY DEAF AND BLIND.
HE WAS ALWAYS A TROOPER AND NEVER CEASED TO AMAZE EVERYONE WHO SAW HIM
NAVIGATE THROUGH THE HOUSE AND THE BACK YARD WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING.
HE WAS TOO OLD FOR WALKS, GROWING LESS PATIENT WITH MERRY AND DAY BY DAY CEASING TO ENJOY THE THINGS HE HAD LOVED SO MUCH DURING HIS TIME HERE ON EARTH.
ONE NIGHT LAST WEEK HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS WILLING TO LIVE FOR US AS LONG AS WE WANTED HIM TO.
AND ON MONDAY OF THIS WEEK WE SET HIM FREE TO ONCE AGAIN RUN AND PLAY ON THE BEACHES OF HEAVEN.

ALL THE PHOTOS BELOW WERE TAKEN ON TAKEN ON MAY 21, 2012, THE LAST DAY OF MILO'S LIFE.

Wayne gives Milo his breakfast
Milo has a bit of a tough time finding his way around in the kitchen   --  Then Mommy picks him up and soothes his tired body.
Merry tries to get
Milo to play a little.
Then asks me "What's
wrong with Milo?
And Milo just wants
to go to bed.
He's sore all over  ....
and just wants to lay down.
And Merry knows Milo went to bed.

....and later that day she goes to the bedroom to see him

....and he's no longer there
